- SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER -

The SPD School Resource Officer program has been in place throughout the Somerset Independent Schools.

Officer Jeff Girdler was selected to continue the SRO program in 2007.  Officer Girdler spends his duty time covering Somerset High School, Meece Middle School, and Hopkins Elementary School.

The SRO is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship between the student body and the police department.  SROs routinely conduct programs within the school that reinforces that relationship.

SROs also work accidents and other calls for police service during school hours.
